Sotomayor is 0-3 against the Bears since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Sotomayor WILDCATS will look to defend their home court against the Brennan Bears at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Sotomayor had to settle for a 72-69 defeat against the Hawks. While losing is never fun, Sotomayor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Hawks are ranked 98th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Elijah Hernandez, who scored 21 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasiah Saunders, who scored 22 points.
Meanwhile, Brennan waltzed into their match on Saturday with 18 straight wins but they left with 19. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 76-41 win over Stevens. Brennan has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Kingston Flemings was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. Camden Cowgill was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Sotomayor now has a losing record at 14-15. As for Brennan, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Sotomayor have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Brennan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Sotomayor was taken down by the Bears 77-41 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Sotomayor have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
