IC Catholic Prep is on a four-game streak of home wins, while De La Salle is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Knights will welcome the Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. IC Catholic Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
IC Catholic Prep is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past St. Francis 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Knights have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Madelynn Dinino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, IC Catholic Prep's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Bucaro, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Bucaro is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lexi Hoffman was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, De La Salle got themselves on the board against Chicago Hope Academy on Tuesday, but Chicago Hope Academy never followed suit. They blew past Chicago Hope Academy 15-0. Considering the Meteors have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lilah Serrano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Serrano was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Samara Agredano was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brianna Gonzalez-Grimaldo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
De La Salle hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive games.
De La Salle is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for IC Catholic Prep, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
