After a string of 14 wins, the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centennial. Lincoln Park Academy has not had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Lincoln Park Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Titherington, who scored 21 points along with five assists and two steals, and Juliana Ball who scored 14 points along with two steals. Titherington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Miller, who scored two points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Centennial found their leader in underclassman Jailyn Williams, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Centennial's points. Jakenzye McBride was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Lincoln Park Academy's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-2. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln Park Academy will take on the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Port St. Lucie has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11. As for Centennial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chiefs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
