The Nova Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the McArthur Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nova is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Nova is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Pembroke Pines Charter just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 3-2. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Nova saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jose Palencia, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Palencia posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, McArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Monarch, falling 14-8. One positive for the Mustangs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Dylan Dess was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Isnedit Fernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Even though they lost, McArthur lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Nova fell to 6-1. As for McArthur, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
McArthur's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Nova hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for McArthur, though, as they've only averaged .174. Will they be able to contain Nova's hitters?
Nova took their win against McArthur when the teams last played on Monday by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nova since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
