Baseball Recap: Monroe Catholic Wins Going Away Against Delta

Monroe Catholic's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Delta Huskies as they made off with a 17-1 win. Considering the Rams have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Brian Bast, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. AJ Geyer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Monroe Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Monroe Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Delta, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

As of now, neither Monroe Catholic nor the Huskies have any future games scheduled.
