The Brownstown Central Braves will face off against the Hauser Jets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Brownstown Central sitting on four straight wins and Hauser on five.
On Friday, Brownstown Central beat Southwestern 5-2.
Dalton Reedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.
On the hitting side, Lane Steward was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Jaxson Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hauser got the win against North Decatur on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. Fans of the Jets have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Stryker Gill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Lukas Christian and Dillion Lambert did most of the damage at the plate: Christian went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Lambert went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Christian a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kameron Blair, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Hauser kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Brownstown Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Hauser, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brownstown Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hauser struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Brownstown Central's way against Hauser in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Brownstown Central made off with a 14-4 victory. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Jets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
