Manuel Fernandez and Devonte Phillips provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Denver East. The longest such play in 5A Aurora this season, the connection resulted in 77 yards.
Rangeview extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Adams City, 56-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Aurora Central's dynamic duo of Fernandez and A'Deril Agnew proved tough for the Angels to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fernandez threw for 206 yards and one touchdown and Agnew had 79 yards receiving. Phillips helped Aurora Central's passing attack out by catching one ball for 77 yards.
Keitrich Griffin was the most productive running back in the league this week. In three carries, he ran for 70 yards as Rangeview fell to Denver East. Darien Odegard also contributed to the rushing game with 56 yards on the ground.
David Gonzales' team's Odegard and Areleous Hughes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Aurora in both passing and receiving yards. Odegard has thrown for 965 yards this season, while Hughes, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 17 catches for 336 yards. Aurora Central's Jeffery Tootle leads the league in rushing yards with 959.
Taylor Calvert's team's Tootle is a mere 41 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Raiders take on Ron McFarland's team. Rangeview is currently in second, while the Angels are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Raiders and Denver East face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Rangeview comes in having scored 285 this season, while the Angels have scored 225. The Raiders scored 56 points last week as they topped the Eagles.
Gateway led the league in scoring this week after putting up 69 points on the Thunderbirds.
