After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Taylorsville, the Leake County Gators were happy to have found some success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mississippi School for the Deaf 72-23 at home. That looming 72-23 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Leake County yet this season.
Leake County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elora Ben out in front who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ben has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cayden Billy, who scored ten points.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aimaya Brand, who scored eight points. Jarmariah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Leake County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-12. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Mississippi School for the Deaf, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Leake County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Stringer at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Mississippi School for the Deaf's road trip will continue as they head out to face Tennessee School for the Deaf at 5:15 p.m. on January 25th.
