Williams Field and Higley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Black Hawks will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Williams Field has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight defeats, while Higley will come in with three straight victories.
Williams Field blew Skyline out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Skyline got their revenge. The Black Hawks fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Black Hawks have suffered since March 10th.
Williams Field saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malcom Harrison, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Higley came out on top against Gilbert on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Knights walked away with an 8-4 win over the Tigers.
Bryce Russo looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blake Daly, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Nate Kimmel, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Williams Field's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Higley, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
Williams Field's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Black Hawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Higley, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Williams Field continue to outrun the ball?
