Softball Game Preview: Indianapolis Lutheran Saints vs. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders

Indianapolis Lutheran is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter will be up against a hot Indianapolis Lutheran squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Saints beat Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-2. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Gracie Boggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Amelia Hughes, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyla Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Indianapolis Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sheridan on Friday. They blew past the Blackhawks 16-9.

Indianapolis Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Everything went Indianapolis Lutheran's way against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Indianapolis Lutheran made off with a 22-6 win.
