Basketball Recap: Brenham Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Yazmine Gaines and Antyianna Lang

Brenham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 57-36 to the A&M Consolidated Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 668th, while the Tigers are ranked 202nd).

Despite the defeat, Brenham had strong showings from Antyianna Lang, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards, and Yazmine Gaines, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Gaines has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Nariyah Thompson was the offensive standout of the matchup as she went 7 of 15 en route to 18 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jomarea Thompson, who earned eight points.

Brenham's loss dropped their record down to 11-19. As for A&M Consolidated, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11.

Brenham will host Rudder at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brenham is facing Rudder at the right time seeing as Rudder is stuck on a four-game losing streak. A&M Consolidated has already played their next game (against Montgomery), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
