The Deep Run Wildcats won the last time they faced the Thomas Jefferson Vikings, and things went their way on Friday too. Deep Run took down Thomas Jefferson 53-38.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Deep Run to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quentin Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. Kemji Onyiuke was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Thomas Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Cameron Sampson, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Torel Clark, who scored eight points.
Deep Run's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Thomas Jefferson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deep Run will face off against Glen Allen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomas Jefferson, they will head out on the road to take on Hermitage at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hermitage presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Thomas Jefferson in Virginia (Hermitage is ranked 42nd, while Thomas Jefferson is ranked 264th).
