The Smyrna Bulldogs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 76-68 victory over Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Smyrna can attribute much of their success to Jalylle Batey-roberts, who scored 29 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Batey-roberts has scored at least 25% of Smyrna's points. Another player making a difference was Elliyon Kinzer, who scored 15 points.
Smyrna has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 4-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smyrna will take on Riverdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Riverdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday. As for Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brainerd at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
