Sanderson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Heritage. That's two games in a row now that Sanderson has lost by exactly a single point.
Nathan Fife put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 23 points along with five steals. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendrick Pulley, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Millbrook had to settle for a 59-56 defeat against Greensboro Day School on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Millbrook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Greensboro Day School is ranked 22nd).
Sanderson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Millbrook, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Sanderson suffered a grim 78-54 defeat to Millbrook in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Sanderson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
