Pk Pearson and Samuel Kail provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Bishop Byrne. The connection was good for 78 yards, the longest such play in Division II A - West District 1 this season.
Southern Baptist was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Trojans vanquished the Red Knights 54-12 earlier in the week.
Southern Baptist's dynamic duo of Pearson and Grant Kimberlin proved tough for Bishop Byrne to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pearson threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns and Kimberlin had 138 yards receiving. Kail helped Southern Baptist's passing attack out by catching three balls for 112 yards.
Cory Lee made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Trojans beat Rod Gaston's team. The 5-foot-10 junior recorded one fumble and racked up one sack.
Evan Bailey was the most productive running back in the league this week. In four carries, he ran for 21 yards as First Assembly Christian defeated the Red Knights. Teammate Cody Stark added to the ground attack by rushing for 18 yards.
Southern Baptist's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Pearson has thrown for 988 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Kimberlin has 34 catches for 518 yards. Dylan Crouch leads the league in rushing with 266 yards.
The Trojans took down Bishop Byrne 54-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Pearson ran for 12 yards in the win.
