Basketball Recap: San Tan Foothills Takes a Loss

San Tan Foothills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vista Grande Spartans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sabercats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 34-31 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why San Tan Foothills lost, don't look at Cienna Witcher. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Witcher has posted since back in February of 2024.

Vista Grande found their leader in freshman Gabby Sepulveda, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Sepulveda has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Daniella Valenzuela, who posted three points in addition to 20 rebounds and three blocks.

San Tan Foothills' defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Vista Grande, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-15.

San Tan Foothills has already played their next game, a 45-27 loss against Gilbert Christian on the 3rd. As for Vista Grande, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 78-16 defeat against Catalina Foothills on the 3rd.
