After flying high against the Desert View Jaguars last Monday, the Nogales Apaches came back down to earth. Nogales took a 60-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts on Tuesday. Nogales has struggled against the Colts recently, as their match on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Nogales' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rafael Vasavilbaso, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and five blocks, and Diego Ortega who scored 15 points. Ortega hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Andres Franco, who scored three points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
It was another big night for Jamin Booker, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds for Buena. The team also got some help courtesy of Deangelo Hawthorne, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Nogales now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Buena, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Cienega the next time they take the court. Nogales will head out to face the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Colts will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
