AA District 10 recap October 22, 2013
Maplewood and Stratford played the closest game in AA District 10 this week, with Maplewood eventually emerging with a 21-20 victory. LaDarrious Wimberly threw for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 51 yards during the win.
Lipscomb Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Whites Creek. Sy Taylor threw for 87 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.
He went 9-14 with 0 interceptions.
Wimberly provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers bested the Spartans. Wimberly's favorite target this week was Chavaris Newsome, who caught 2 passes for 84 yards.
Taylor and Deandre Tigg gave the Mustangs a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Teammate Luke Simpson added to the ground attack by rushing for 40 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Wimberly of Maplewood is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,662. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Patrick Smith. The East Nashville Magnet star has 32 catches for 702 yards.
The Cobras made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,153 from 12,311. The advance stemmed from a 42-21 victory over Whites Creek last week.
