Scheck Hillel Community School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Avant Garde Academy Sharks, falling 74-52. One positive for the Lions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Avant Garde Academy found their leader in freshman Landon Guzman, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Guzman's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikko Andino, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards.
Scheck Hillel Community School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Avant Garde Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scheck Hillel Community School will host Don Soffer Aventura at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Avant Garde Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sports Leadership & Management at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Avant Garde Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
