Douglas Byrd had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-11 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls 12-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the game before.

Kadence Norton was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Camille Singleton was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Douglas Byrd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for E.E. Smith, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.
On E.E. Smith's side, Taniya Beard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and 11 unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Aaliyah Jeter made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Keziah Speller, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Coming up, Douglas Byrd will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Pauls at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. E.E. Smith does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
