Softball Recap: Hilliard Darby Has No Trouble Against Fairdale

While Hilliard Darby put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Fairdale. Hilliard Darby put the hurt on Fairdale with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Hilliard Darby got a great performance from Marley Grigsby as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Taylor Cahill was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Mangini, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hilliard Darby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairdale only posted a batting average of .118.

Hilliard Darby's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Fairdale, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Coming up, Hilliard Darby will be playing in front of their home fans against Olentangy Berlin at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairdale, they will host Copley at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairdale is facing Copley at the right time seeing as Copley is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
