In what's become a running theme this season, the Mercer Christian Academy Cavaliers gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mount Hope Christian Academy 65-26 at home. 65 seems to be a good number for Mercer Christian Academy as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mercer Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayley Trump, who scored 33 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trump has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Botts, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 steals.
Mount Hope Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of MCKENNA JONES, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and LEAH LILLY who scored six points. JONES hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games.
The win was the third in a row for Mercer Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 9-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Mercer Christian Academy will head out on the road to square off against Greenbrier East at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Greenbrier East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Mercer Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against New Life Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Life Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
