The Riverview Gardens Rams managed to keep up with the Mater Dei Knights until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Riverview Gardens suffered a rough 65-45 defeat at the hands of Mater Dei. Riverview Gardens has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leading Mater Dei to victory were Nick Lampe and Elliott Rakers. Lampe scored 16 points along with five assists, while Rakers dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. Rakers continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Diekemper, who scored six points.
Riverview Gardens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mater Dei, they pushed their record up to 6-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Riverview Gardens will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on University City at 6:00 p.m. on January 19, 2024. Mater Dei won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Red Bay at 8:30 p.m. on December 28th. Red Bay presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mater Dei in their respective states (Red Bay is ranked 88th in Alabama, while Mater Dei is ranked 206th in Illinois).
