The Hays Hawks''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Smithson Valley 47-10. While losing is never fun, Hays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 594th, while Smithson Valley is ranked 55th).
Tacoma Ames threw for 55 yards on six of 17 attempts. On the ground, Dillan Lofton rushed for 54 yards.
Hays' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Smithson Valley, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Hays will be playing in front of their home fans against Lehman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smithson Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Seguin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
