Inland Valley recap November 5, 2013
CODY CERVANTES and CHRIS CARRILLO provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Vista del Lago. The connection went for 99 yards, the longest such play in Inland Valley this season.
Canyon Springs scaled the state rankings by moving to 369 from 404 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars were able to move up by defeating the Ravens 39-7.
Canyon Springs' dynamic duo of CERVANTES and CARRILLO proved tough for Vista del Lago to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. CERVANTES threw for 241 yards and 3 touchdowns and CARRILLO had 105 yards receiving. JACOB WHITMER helped Canyon Springs' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 67 yards.
He was 9-18 with 1 interception.
6-foot-2 quarterback Chandler Drachslin of Poly is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,747. He has also thrown 19 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hakeem Eubanks. The Valley View star has 40 catches for 709 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Pete Garza's team takes on Valley View. At the moment, the Cougars are in fourth, while the Eagles are in third.
Rancho Verde added to the longest winning streak in Inland Valley this week by beating Arlington, 49-14. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Mustangs.
