The Northwood Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 28 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Cummings 48-9 at home. Given Northwood's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Cummings is ranked 570th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Skylar Adams was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with three steals. Alyia Roberts was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Northwood and bumps their season record up to 11-2. As for Cummings, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwood will square off against Chatham Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Chatham Central is on a six-game streak of home wins, Northwood a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Cummings, they will head out on the road to face off against Southeast Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
