Cathedral City moved up to 512 from 649 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Desert Valley. The Lions were able to make the jump by besting Indio 40-7.
Cathedral City extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Rajahs, 40-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for Richard Lee's team.
The Lions' Davin Lile and James Rodriguez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lile has thrown for 413 yards this season, while Rodriguez, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has eight catches for 148 yards. Keyvion Ross from Indio leads the league in rushing with 291 yards.
A big matchup in Desert Valley this week will be when Palm Springs takes on La Quinta. As it stands, the Indians are in first, while the Blackhawks are in third.
La Quinta was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Danny Armstrong's team triumphed over Coachella Valley 52-0.
