Basketball Game Preview: Marshall Christian Academy Guardians vs. Liberty-Eylau Leopards

The Marshall Christian Academy Guardians are taking a road trip to challenge the Liberty-Eylau Leopards at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Marshall Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by New Summerfield to the tune of 75-42 on Friday.

Marshall Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Gilbert led the charge by going 7 of 8 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Gilbert's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vontay Robinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Liberty-Eylau put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Hooks by a score of 63-56. While the Leopards didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Marshall Christian Academy's record now sits at 5-7. As for Liberty-Eylau, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0.

Things could have been worse for Marshall Christian Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 82-64 loss to Liberty-Eylau in their previous meeting back in January of 2017. Can Marshall Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
