Green Bay Southwest is 1-9 against Manitowoc Lincoln since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Fighting Trojans will take on the Ships at 4:30 p.m.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Green Bay Southwest and West De Pere meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Fighting Trojans fell just short of the Phantoms by a score of 4-3.
Kaleb Langenberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ethan Richardson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Jacob Richardson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln entered their tilt with Notre Dame Academy on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Tritons. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 27, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Vance Schroeder was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Bradl, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Green Bay Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Green Bay Southwest came up short against Manitowoc Lincoln when the teams last played back in April, falling 5-0. Can the Fighting Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
