After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Irion County, Newman International Academy was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Avalon Eagles 49-10. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season.

Newman International Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Arianna Miranda, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Miranda has scored at least a third of Newman International Academy's points. Morgan Brook was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Newman International Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Newman International Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.8 points per game. As for Avalon, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Newman International Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-17 win against Mount Calm on the 14th. As for Avalon, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Morgan at 5:00 p.m. Morgan has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
