The Jefferson Academy Jaguars lost against the Colorado Academy Mustangs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Jefferson Academy received a tough blow as they fell 59-45 to Colorado Academy. While losing is never fun, Jefferson Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Colorado Academy is ranked 15th).
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jimeto Orji, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Mendez, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Jefferson Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Colorado Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Academy will challenge Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forge Christian will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Colorado Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Eagle Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Aiden Wanrow and Jason Bratis.
