Softball Recap: First Coast Finds Home Field Redemption Against Riverside

There's no place like home for First Coast, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let the Riverside Generals get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Generals recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Lynneisa Whittington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carmen Overstreet was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makiyah Lester, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

First Coast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

First Coast's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Riverside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

First Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverside, they will head out to square off against Stanton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Generals surely won't give up without a fight.
