Williamsville East has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hamburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Flames will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Williamsville East is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since May 14, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Sweet Home by a score of 9-7. The Flames have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Elise Prelewicz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. Ava Wendell was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Hamburg fell victim to Williamsville South and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Billies. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Billies recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Hamburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Ferro, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base. Ferro is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Williamsville East now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Hamburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Williamsville East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Hamburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
