Section 5 Freelance recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Section 5 Freelance this week, Aquinas Institute beat St. Francis 48-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Little Irish.
Aquinas Institute took down the Red Raiders 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jake Zembiec threw for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.
Chris Battaglia's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Luch Pietropaolo chipped in 65 yards. Donato Clemente helped Aquinas Institute's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 39 yards.
He went 7-13 with 1 interception.
Zembiec put up the best numbers in passing as the Little Irish bested St. Francis. Zembiec's favorite target this week was Marcus Conner, who caught 2 passes for 69 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Zembiec and Pietropaolo, Aquinas Institute has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Zembiec leads the league in passing with 950 yards, while Pietropaolo has rushed for 636 yards this season. University Prep's Jordan Marshall leads the league in receiving yards with 337 on 12 catches.
The Little Irish led the league in scoring this week by notching 48 points on Jerry Smith's team. Zembiec during the win.
