It was a good run, but Newton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Hydi Bierman paced Newton's offense, picking up eight kills. Bierman got some help from Amy Shull and her seven assists.

Izzy Dolden was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 11 digs. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 19-13. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, the victory was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 31-1.

Newton has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Edwards County on the 18th. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Effingham on the 18th.
