After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Susquehanna Valley, Seton Catholic Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Chenango Forks Blue Devils by a score of 5-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Saints as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Olivia Nazarenus made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
Nazarenus wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Buckley, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Buckley has hit this season.
Seton Catholic Central picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Chenango Forks, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
