You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. We'll dive into that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Christian Academy-Louisville got a 48 - 10 win over Elizabethtown last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Brandt Babin. Babin earned three touchdowns and 172 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Babin one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Male (2nd in the power rankings) and Trinity (10th). Male was able to grind out a solid victory over Trinity, winning 17 - 3. As a result, Male rose one spot in the power rankings.
Movin on Up
The Pikeville offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It had all the answers against Paintsville, winning 36 - 13. Pikeville did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. Its success was rewarded with a 16-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
No Stoppin 'Em
Mayfield was the better team in every quarter against McCracken County last week and consequently the better team overall. Mayfield breezed past McCracken County with a final score of 51 - 21. 51 is shaping up to be Mayfield's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its win over Paducah Tilghman the game before. The combined 72 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
