Elkins is a perfect 4-0 against Pendleton County since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will host the Wildcat at 6:30 p.m. Elkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Elkins will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Lewis County, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Minutemen on Wednesday.
Trent Stone was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Pendleton County came up short against Southern on Thursday and fell 10-5.
Cooper Smith was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pendleton County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise. Smith was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Chase Owens made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Cashton Kisamore, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Pendleton County dropped their record down to 7-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Elkins, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Elkins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pendleton County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Elkins got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Pendleton County by a conclusive 13-4 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcat turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
