West Mesa's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Highland as West Mesa made off with a 20-0 win. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Trinity 'Toots' Bazan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Bazan was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Mya Baca was a standout: she fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina ' Ocho' Perez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
West Mesa lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Del Norte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 24-23 heartbreaker at the hands of Highland. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Timika Segay was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 4-for-5.
West Mesa's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Del Norte, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Del Norte's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Mesa has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. It's a different story for Del Norte, though, as they've been averaging 22.7 hits. Given West Mesa's sizable advantage in that area, Del Norte will need to find a way to close that gap.
West Mesa took their win against Del Norte when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3. Will West Mesa repeat their success, or does Del Norte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
