The Northland Christian Cougars's nine-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 59-48 victory over Faith West Academy. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Northland Christian also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Northland Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andon "AJ" Newton, who scored 20 points along with nine steals and eight assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Newton has scored at least a third of Northland Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel McKnight, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Northland Christian's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15. As for Faith West Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Northland Christian will square off against First Baptist Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Christian is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Faith West Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lutheran North at 7:30 p.m.
