Cimarron-Memorial strolled past Canyon Springs with points to spare, taking the game 69-51. Cimarron-Memorial pushed the score to 57-33 by the end of the third, a deficit Canyon Springs cut but never quite recovered from.
Cimarron-Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gerald Patterson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Christian Cardona was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Canyon Springs' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kion Thomas, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds, and Emanuel Custard who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Armondo Lewis Jr, who scored five points.
Cimarron-Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Canyon Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cimarron-Memorial will take on Western at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Western is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Canyon Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southeast Career Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeast Career Tech has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21.
