Noah Cartiglia looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Dominic Zito was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Bell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Mitchell on Friday.
Eli Rolon looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jackson Palmer was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Spink, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
East Lake pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, their record is now 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from East Lake when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Bishop McLaughlin Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
