After flying high against South Atlanta last Friday, Heard County came back down to earth. The Heard County Braves fell just short of the Murphy Bulldogs by a score of 29-27 on Friday. The Braves gained 163 more yards on the day, but it was the Bulldogs that made the best use of them.
Despite the loss, Heard County still got an impressive performance from Ethan Tisdale, who rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns. With that strong performance, Tisdale is now averaging an impressive 109 rushing yards per game. Zaiden Moreland also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Even though they lost, Heard County was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 459 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Heard County wouldn't let Murphy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Logan Parmer, Jack Goss, and Payden Boogher picked up one apiece. Boogher also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making three total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Cameron Clem was a one-man wrecking crew for Murphy as he rushed for 85 yards and four touchdowns.
Having lost for the first time this season, Heard County fell to 2-1. As for Murphy, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heard County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bowdon at 7:30 p.m. on September 13th. As for Murphy, they will square off against West Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
