Markie-Ann Aliff put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and 16 unearned) runs off 14 hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.
In other batting news, Khloe Racz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Leann Clark was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Clearview lost 19-6 to Lorain on Saturday.
Janessa Pagan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Ruiz-Narvaez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Brookside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Clearview, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brookside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clearview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brookside took their victory against Clearview when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Clippers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
