After three games on the road, San Clemente is heading back home. They will take on The Tesoro Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully San Clemente is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tesoro in California (San Clemente is ranked 14th, while Tesoro is ranked 79th).
Last Friday, San Clemente didn't have too much trouble with Capistrano Valley on the road as they won 35-18. San Clemente pushed the score to 35-10 by the end of the third, a deficit Capistrano Valley cut but never quite recovered from.
San Clemente's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aiden Rubin, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Rubin hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. Dylan Mills was another key contributor, throwing for 194 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Tesoro fell victim to Mission Viejo's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Diablos at home and fell 36-0. Having soared to a lofty 37 points in the game before, Tesoro couldn't push the score so high this time.
San Clemente's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Even more impressive is the teams they beat to make that streak: Capistrano Valley, Mission Viejo, and Ayala. As for Tesoro, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
San Clemente strolled past Tesoro in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 31-14. Will San Clemente repeat their success, or does Tesoro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
