The Frankfort Redbirds will head out on the road to take on the Elverado Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Frankfort sitting on five straight victories and Elverado on three.
While Frankfort didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Zeigler-Royalton on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, while Elverado put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Agape Christian. The Falcons blew past the Knights 14-0. Considering the Falcons have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maci Cararway was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Elverado got a massive performance out of Mylee Roberts, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Roberts has posted since back in April of 2024. Maggie Elson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Elverado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.
Frankfort's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Elverado, their record now sits at 4-1.
Everything went Frankfort's way against Elverado when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Frankfort made off with a 13-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redbirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
