West Monroe (La.) saw its 20-point lead dwindle to six, but still managed to hang on and beat 
Bastrop (La.) 20-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a 
Steven Jones touchdown run in the first quarter, the Rebels led 20-0 at the half.
West Monroe saw its 20-point halftime lead fall to 13 entering the fourth.
Jones played well for WM in the victory. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
Jaetarious Davis made a difference for the Rams. The senior wide receiver threw one touchdown.
The Rebels also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 49-14.
The loss snapped Bastrop's 2-game winning streak.
In a non-conference game next week West Monroe (2-1) takes on Carroll, and Bastrop (2-1) will go up against Rayville also in a non-conference game.
