Garner is 7-1 against Willow Spring since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Storm at 6:00 p.m. Garner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Garner made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Corinth Holders, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 9-2 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Gabriella Czuczuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gaby Mizelle, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Mayken Lynette, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Mizelle wasn't the only one making solid contact: Garner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Willow Spring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 6-1 to Clayton. The contest marked the Storm's lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Willow Spring saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Howard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Willow Spring's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Garner, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Garner has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Willow Spring struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Garner came out on top in a nail-biter against Willow Spring in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
