Grand Prairie extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 14-15. They came up short against the South Grand Prairie Warriors, falling 14-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.
As for South Grand Prairie, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-8. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For South Grand Prairie's part, Jernie Nerio was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Nerio has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Natalee Fernandez and Jade Evans did most of the damage at the plate: Fernandez went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Evans went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Evans has posted since back in February. Gianna Orozco was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Grand Prairie wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-2 win against Sam Houston on the 10th. As for South Grand Prairie, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-0 victory against Martin on the 10th.
