Northern Potter got a massive performance out of Gaige Hohenwarter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Hohenwarter is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Wyatt Bliss also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Northern Potter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Cowanesque Valley waltzed into their contest on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 13-1 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.
Hunter Simonds looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Bruce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Lucas Hamilton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Cowanesque Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Northern Potter, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8.
Northern Potter suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Cowanesque Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
